Dress Up A Bench

Friday, February 21, 2014

Hey lovelies, TGIF!!

Today we are dressing up a bench with a cushion and some pillows.
I thrifted this bench two years ago and went from its original wood to being painted white and then key lime green. I wanted to give it a fresh coat of paint, but I'm going to have to wait for the weather to get warmer so I can take it outside and spray paint it. (Too bad I can't spray paint it in the house)

How I dressed it up..
I bought foam and cut it to size. Then I bought a yard of faux leather from my local fabric warehouse to cover the foam and use that for the cushion part of the bench. For the pillows I used pieces from fabric shower curtains that I had from other projects to make my pillow covers.
Remember in a previous post how I mentioned that you can use anything for fabric such as shower curtains, curtains, tablecloths, bed sheets, etc. You can opt for these choices when you can't find what you really want but you come across a curtain that makes the statement you want. Why not got for it?!
I always like to save any pieces of material/fabric that I have left over because they can be used for other things.

Here's how the bench looks undressed..

Here's what it looks like now..

Don't be afraid to mix and match different patterns, as long as it flows with the rest of the decor, it's ok!

What do you think of this makeover?
It's definitely comfy now!!

Thanks for stopping by!  XO
