When to Toss Your Makeup

When you look good you feel good!

Hey lovelies, have you ever wondered if your makeup has a shelf life? Well it does!
But no worries, I'm here to help.

Foundation: Once the seal is broken, your foundation is good for 6-12 months. If you notice a smell or change in color it means its time to replace it. Continued use can cause breakouts and irritations.

Concealers: Liquid concealer should be tossed after one year. However stick and powder concealers can last a little longer. Up to two years.

Face Powders: Blush, Bronzer, and Powder last for 12-18 months.

Eyeshadows: These should be replaced after 3-4 months. Shadows have a higher risk of bacteria since they're in constant contact with a mucuos membrane.

Eye Liners: Just like shadows, eye liners in pencil as well as liquid should be tossed after 3-4 months.

Lipsticks and Lip Gloss: Toss after 1-2 years. If you notice an odor (yuck) on your lipstick or it gets hard, then its time to toss it.

Mascaras: To avoid infections replace your mascara every 3 months. (don't share your mascara)

Makeup Brushes: Your brushes won't necessarily expire but they will at some point begin to fray and look bushy. This is when it's time to replace them. You can keep your brushes in good condition by washing them at least once a week or every two weeks. You can use a mild shampoo to wash your brushes.  Keeping your brushes clean on a regular will help prolong the life of all powders.

Bonus:
Shampoo, Conditioner, and Shower Gel: Should be tossed after 3 years
Perfume: 3 years
Nail polish: 1 year
Deodorant and Shaving Cream: up to 2 years
