Ombré! To Keep or Let Go!Wednesday, August 01, 2012
Hey loves today I want to talk about my hair frustration. About two months ago I got the ombré effect done. The word "ombre" is a French word for shading or graduating. The trend features darker, more natural hues at the roots with gradually-dyed lightening at the ends. There's many different ways of doing it.
I have noticed that my hair changed after I had this done. It seems dry and brittle. I have tried some really good hair treatments which have helped in the past but I'm still not happy about the way my hair looks.
Today I decided to take a trip to Sally's Beauty Supply and purchase some products that I've used in the past but haven't used in years.
Many years ago most of my hair fell out, I'm not really sure what caused it but it might have been due to the fact that I have Crohns Disease and I wasn't doing so well at the time. Anyhow I started using the Mane n Tail shampoo and conditioner by Straight Arrow and they really helped my hair. I also used Millenia Mud treatment which repairs the hair. In months my hair was looking nice and thick again. I couldn't believe how my hair changed it was looking better than ever. I then decided that I wasn't going to dye or cut my hair ever! That was until after I had my son, My hair was down to my waist and I chopped it all off and donated the hair to locks of love. I then decided to go "blonde", but that only lasted a few months. I went back to being a brunette shortly after.
As much as I would like to change my color and go back to being a brunette, I know I will miss the ombré. But before I go ahead and do that I am willing to try some different treatments.
I took my trip to Sally's and was able to get the Mane and Tail shampoo and conditioner but the Millennia Mud was no longer available. I was told to try Aphogee a Two-Step Protein Treatment. It is ideal for Color-Treated Hair. The first step stops hair from breakage and rebuilds hair structure for six weeks. The second step is a balancing moisturizer which improves manageability, softness, and shine. I just couldn't wait to try it!
As I started my process, I immediately noticed my hair a little smoother after I rinsed the first treatment. Once I was done with the treatments I did a roller set and went under the dryer for an hour and a half.
When I was done drying my hair I was amazed by the results. Wow, my hair was smooth and looks very hydrated. Maybe I'll keep the ombré a little longer :)
I hope this helps if you're having a hair crisis like I was.
